A Name That Reflects Honesty
sadëkk comes from the Wolof words sa and dëkk — meaning your living space, your abode. The name is also reminiscent of the Arabic word sadaq, meaning honesty, sincerity, and truthfulness. Both meanings together are the backbone of our work.
Across The Gambia, Senegal, and Mauritania, land is sold twice. Deposits disappear. Photographs show a plot that does not exist, or one the seller does not own. Families abroad send money home for years and arrive to find nothing standing. The problem is rarely a lack of good property — it is a lack of anyone accountable in the middle.
